Daniel James says he would be open to ending his career at Leeds United, though he accepts things can change and that keeping his place depends on his form.

“Yeah, definitely. I think Stu [Dallas] obviously spent a very long time here, absolutely loved it. It's something that I would absolutely love to do as well, I think.” Speaking on the Official Leeds United podcast.

James signed a four-year contract last summer after helping Daniel Farke’s side win the Championship with 100 points. He delivered 12 goals and nine assists in 36 games, following 20 direct contributions in 2023/24.

The first eight months of that deal have been tougher, with injuries limiting him to four Premier League starts and no goal or assist. He has also found opportunities scarce amid a shift away from traditional wingers.

His only start this calendar year came in March’s 3-0 FA Cup fifth round win at Norwich City. An adductor strain sidelined him throughout April, while two league cameos either side totalled nine minutes.

With survival just about secured, Leeds are expected to bolster their attack this summer, though James is not pushing to leave and remains a valued squad figure alongside fellow Welshmen Ethan Ampadu, Joe Rodon and Karl Darlow. “But again, it's down to me to go and perform, not to prove to everyone but to prove to myself. I want to go and influence games and ultimately that will help.”
