Huddersfield Town have confirmed that Ollie Turton has signed a new long-term contract with the club.

Turton arrived at the John Smith’s Stadium last summer on a two-year deal, meaning he’d entered the final 12 months of that agreement.

An announcement from Town this morning has confirmed that Turton has signed a new contract, keeping him in West Yorkshire for the next three seasons. His new terms run until 2025.

“Ollie has been a fantastic professional since he arrived at the Club,” Danny Schofield enthused after Turton’s deal was announced.

“He gives his all in every training session and in every game, pushing himself to improve and maximise his potential.

“He is a player who sets a perfect example of what it takes to be a professional football player. His versatility is a real asset, allowing him to play in a number of positions and help the team in different areas.

“He is a valued and well-liked member of our squad and it is fantastic for the Club that Ollie has agreed to sign a new deal to continue his journey here.”

The 29-year-old made 41 appearances last season for Town, impressing under Carlos Corberan and helping Huddersfield reach the play-off final.

This year, he’s continued to be an important member of the squad under Schofield.

Turton has featured in all four of Town’s fixtures in the Championship in what’s been a challenging start to the season. Huddersfield have lost three of those four games.

Schofield has asked Turton to play at a right-sided centre-back in the last two fixtures, joining Tom Lees and Yuta Nakayama in a back-three to accommodate Kaine Kesler-Hayden at right wing-back.

This is a good move for Huddersfield and you can tell Schofield is delighted to get a model professional tied down.

Turton has been a solid presence in the Huddersfield defence once he’s eventually settled and, at the start of this season, he’s been good on occasion despite the team’s struggle.
