Former Sheffield Wednesday boss has revealed what he jealous of regarding the club's ownership at Hillsborough in 2026.
Darren Moore’s time at Sheffield Wednesday was one of the brighter spells of a difficult era under Dejphon Chansiri, with his impact something David Storch and co. will hope to replicate this term.
He restored belief, eventually leading the Owls to promotion in 2023 after the unforgettable 5-1 comeback against Peterborough, before sealing promotion at Wembley. Sheffield Wednesday were never able to build on the stability Moore provided, with his departure followed by another period of turmoil.
Now, David Storch and Arise Capital have the chance to create a similarly positive connection with supporters. The mood around Hillsborough is transformed, and there is genuine belief that brighter days are finally returning following Dejphon Chansiri's departure.

Darren Moore has been reflecting on his time with the club, with the 52-year-old having spent two years and three months in South Yorkshire before leaving ahead of the 2023/24 Championship campaign.
Now back in League One but with a point to prove, Moore has explained what he is currently jealous of regarding the Owls when speaking to The Wednesday Word on YouTube. On the new chapter at Wednesday beginning, he said: "Fantastic. Really good. Um, And the word that I would use for it is professional. You know, the place just feels professional.
"It feels like everybody's engaged. It feels like they're reaching out to the supporters. It feels like all the messages that the supporters are getting feels right. It feels how a football club should be."
Joe Crann asked: "Are you a little bit jealous? Not jealous in a nasty way, but like a little bit jealous of the fact that you weren't able to have that."
Moore replied: "Yeah. I think having any manager to have that structure and stability and that support is what we dream of really. To have that and for that to be in place now, it bodes well because, for me, that builds success.
"That's what I like with it. And that's the bit now that I look and I think, I just look at Sheffield Wednesday and think, right, because the structures in place now and the right people are in place.
"And the biggest thing what I'm listening to is that they get the history and the culture of the football club. I think that is so, so huge and because that's in place, it just supports Henrik with an unbelievable opportunity this season for the club to go well because everybody's in it together.
"And we've seen over the time that. when you're all linked together and a club with the size and structure on Sheffield Wednesday what can be achieved. So, it's so wonderful. It's great to see all the season ticket sales. I mean, just incredible.
"So it creates that real energy and that real excitement that Wednesday are back in League One, they understand the league, and they'll set about the task about trying to get back out the league, and move the club forward. But moving forward under that structure bodes well for the football club.
"So jealous in a sense that I didn't have that there, but so happy that it's in because, obviously, being part of the club, understanding the club, the people that worked inside the football club, so that's fantastic in that sense.
"And honestly, you know me, Joe, I wish the club every success this season coming up. Every success from all departments."

Moore has had a frustrating coaching career path since leaving Sheffield Wednesday. He departed Hillsborough by mutual consent just weeks after guiding the Owls back to the Championship, then endured a difficult spell at Huddersfield Town, winning only three of 23 games before being dismissed.
Port Vale initially looked like the perfect opportunity, particularly after he guided them straight back into League One, but he was sacked in December 2025 with Vale bottom of the division and has not had a role in football since.
It feels harsh that Moore has rarely had the chance to work within a club hierarchy sharing his long-term vision. Given what he achieved at Wednesday, he deserves another project with patience, stability, and genuine alignment from above. He would have that with Storch and co. now as well.

Wednesday can be hugely excited about their future under Arise Capital and Storch, with investment off the pitch already transforming the mood around Hillsborough for the 2026/27 League One season.
Pedersen’s position, however, cannot be considered completely secure if the rebuilt squad fails to deliver. Should Sheffield Wednesday underperform, they could do far worse than explore a return for Moore at some stage in the season.
He already proved he could unite the fanbase and deliver promotion, and his experience could be invaluable if the new owners decide a change is needed. The buy-in from fans would be immediate, too.
