The Athletic’s David Ornstein has given his info on the situation after Enzo Maresca’s comments over the weekend.

We can all see what’s going on here. Maresca is clearly unhappy with a number of things. There is clearly a situation behind the scenes where he has fallen out with the sporting directors at Chelsea – it’s very obvious at this point.

Maresca has done his best to try and tell us all that the relationship with them and the club owners is ‘OK’ – but unfortunately the damage there has already been done now.

In the same interview earlier on, he was given a chance to clarify or back track on his comments about getting a lack of support, but he refused to take up that opportunity.

This kind of thing usually only ends up one way, and that will be the manager leaving through the exit door at some point in the very near future.
