Valencia are set to bank €280,000 from Nico González’s latest move, a timely boost as they aim to add at least two players in the next five days on a tight Meriton budget for Ron Gourlay.

According to Superdeporte, Newcastle have paid Manchester City €56 million to sign the 23-year-old midfielder, which triggers a solidarity contribution of around five per cent.

The split is uneven between the three clubs involved in his development, with Barcelona due €1.9 million, Porto €560,000 and Valencia €280,000.

González spent the 2022/23 season at Mestalla on loan from Barcelona, playing 26 matches, before moving to Porto for a little over €21 million.

The solidarity sums will not be paid immediately, with the money set to arrive closer to the January window.
