Newcastle have completed the signing of Spanish midfielder Nico González from Manchester City in a deal that could rise to £52 million.
The 24-year-old has signed a long-term contract at St James’ Park after completing his medical on Tyneside and will wear the No 6 shirt. He becomes Newcastle’s seventh addition of the summer and the second arrival since Matthias Jaissle took charge.

González joined City from Porto in February 2025 and made 59 appearances for the club, scoring four goals.
The transfer takes the Magpies’ summer spending to around £222m, while González becomes the fourth senior midfielder to leave Manchester City this summer after Bernardo Silva, Rodri and Tijjani Reijnders.
González was unveiled to Newcastle supporters ahead of their Carabao Cup clash with West Bromwich Albion.
