João Felipe Schmidt Urbano set the tempo in the 12th minute with a blocked effort, and his midfield control underpinned Santos' 2-0 win over RB Bragantino.
That early sight of goal foreshadowed a composed first half from Schmidt Urbano, who recycled possession cleanly and kept Peixe on the front foot with crisp passing through the centre.
After the restart he continued to steer the game, snapping into duels and regaining territory for Alvinegro Praiano. He drew a late foul in the third minute of second half stoppage time to help close it out.
The numbers back up his influence: 64 passes with 57 completed, 14 successful final third passes and nine recoveries, alongside two tackles won and two clearances. It was control by repetition rather than rush.
Because he consistently offered the simple outlet between lines, Braga were forced to shuffle without ever setting traps, and Massa Bruta rarely disrupted Santos' rhythm in key phases.
Peixe rise from 16th to 14th in the table and host Coritiba next in the league. Braga remain seventh and face Vitória at home.
