Cyle Larin changed it in the 38th minute with a rising strike from outside the box, setting Southampton on course to beat Bristol City 4-1. The forward later added a close-range second and now leads the Championship scoring on seven.
Larin's opener came from distance, the Canadian cutting across the edge of the area and rifling into the top right corner to tilt the contest towards the Saints.
After the restart he struck again, arriving in the six-yard box to sweep in from a fast break (61.). That penalty box movement kept City's defence pinned and sharpened the Saints' threat in transition.
He finished with three attempts, two on target, and six touches in the box, a neat summary of how he mixed long-range shooting with penalty area presence.
Because the Saints could spring forward quickly and find their striker early, his timing and runs repeatedly unsettled the Robins, ensuring the key attacking phases belonged to the hosts.
