Marcelinho won it in the fourth minute of second half stoppage time with a low right-footed finish, as Remo beat São Paulo 1-0.
In the 29th minute, Marcelinho's whipped cross picked out Vitor Bueno six yards out, but the forward steered wide.
The Leão Azul defender then earned territory by winning a free-kick on the right (90.). In the first minute of second half stoppage time he forced a save with a header, before finishing Leonel Picco's pass into the bottom left to decide it.
He finished with two shots on target, three interceptions and eight successful final third passes, repeatedly pushing Tricolor Paulista back down their left.
His crossing volume and late surges from the right kept Soberano uneasy, marrying delivery with timing to complement Leão Azul's set-piece pressure.
Leão Azul climb from 19th to 18th in the league, while Soberano drop from seventh to eighth. Leão Azul visit Corinthians next, Soberano host Athletico Paranaense.
