Defence Force seals Caribbean Cup Third Place and Champions Cup berth

SANTIAGO DE LOS CABALLEROS, Dominican Republic – The 2025 Concacaf Caribbean Cup continued with Cibao FC earning a 2-1 victory over Defence Force FC, with the latter winning 4-2 on aggregate, in the Second Leg of their Third Place series on Tuesday at Estadio Cibao FC in Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic.
After an intense first half, Cibao FC struck in stoppage time as Rivaldo Correa buried a cross from Carlos Ventura in the 45’+6’.
The Dominican side quickly doubled the lead in the 45’+8’, when Ventura’s shot blasted off the crossbar and Yunior Peralta was there to clean it up.
Cibao FC had a great chance to score an important third goal, as the Caribbean Cup’s all-time leading scorer, Rivaldo Correa, stepped up for a penalty kick in the 59’, but goalkeeper Isaiah Williams came up with a massive save.
Defence Force ended up taking advantage on a counterattack when Kevin Molino fed Darius Ollivierra in 90’+4’ to put the finishing touches on a successful tournament.
With its series victory, and third-place finish in the Caribbean Cup, Defence Force FC secured the last remaining spot in the 2026 Concacaf Champions Cup.
