Fisayo Dele-Bashiru has sustained a right thigh tear and should be out for at least three weeks, according to Il Messaggero and La Lazio Siamo Noi. The setback is a blow for both Lazio and Nigeria.

Gennaro Gattuso started the midfielder at the Renato Dall’Ara after an encouraging Coppa Italia display against Mantova. He went off early in the second half, replaced by Davide Frattesi, who scored the game’s only goal.

Dele-Bashiru will miss Sunday’s home match with Genoa, then Serie A fixtures against Udinese on September seven and AC Milan on September 13. He is a doubt for Venezia on September 19, and his readiness for the international break is unclear.

Nigeria are scheduled to open African Cup of Nations qualifying against Madagascar on September 23 and Guinea-Bissau on September 27.

Adam Marusic was also injured in the opening minutes against Bologna, with Il Messaggero reporting a flexor strain that should sideline him for two to three weeks. Romano Floriani Mussolini is expected to start at right-back, while Manuel Lazzari could leave amid interest from Monza and Cagliari.
