Denis Zakaria withdraws from Switzerland squad after Monaco injury | OneFootball

AS Monaco captain Denis Zakaria has withdrawn from the Switzerland squad for the international break after suffering a physical issue in Friday’s win over RC Lens, with the decision confirmed on Monday.

According to Get French Football News, the 29-year-old was taken off in the 76th minute and replaced by academy product Pape Cabral.

After the match, Zakaria played down the problem and said it was okay, while acknowledging he had been substituted because of a physical issue.

He will not join up with the national team during this international break and will remain in La Turbie. The nature of the injury has not been specified.

It is a setback for Switzerland, and potentially for Monaco too, should he not recover in time to face Toulouse FC on 10th October.
