Monaco’s Denis Zakaria withdraws from Switzerland squad | OneFootball

AS Monaco captain Denis Zakaria (29) has been forced to withdraw from the Switzerland squad for the international break, as confirmed on Monday. The midfielder was forced off during Les Monégasques win over RC Lens on Friday night.

The captain was withdrawn in the 76th minute of the encounter and was replaced by academy product Pape Cabral. Speaking in a mixed zone interview attended by Get French Football News post-match, the Swiss international downplayed the issue, but nonetheless confirmed that he was substituted due to a physical issue. “But it’s okay,” he assured.

Monaco to face Toulouse upon return from international break

It is not okay enough, however, to participate with the Switzerland national team during this international break. The nature of his injury has not been specified. He will, therefore, remain in La Turbie. It is a blow for Switzerland, but also perhaps for the Principality club, should he not recover in time to face Toulouse FC on 10th October.
