DFB chiefs hail Julian Nagelsmann after resignation, say he put Germany before himself

Senior DFB figures have praised Julian Nagelsmann after he resigned as Germany head coach following the World Cup exit. They highlighted his commitment and professionalism.
Sporting director Rudi Völler thanked Nagelsmann for his work with the national side, saying his decision to step down merits respect after a deeply disappointing tournament. According to BuLi News, he added that Nagelsmann accepted responsibility despite wanting to continue shaping the team, and put the national side above personal interests.
Völler backed him to thrive again, describing him as an outstanding coach and expressing confidence he will continue successfully. He also thanked Nagelsmann for a trusting and friendly collaboration.
DFB president Bernd Neuendorf praised the 38-year-old’s contribution since September 2023, citing his dedication and ambition.
Neuendorf said Nagelsmann acts responsibly and sincerely, and is highly valued across the federation.
