Didier Digard, who had attracted interest in France in recent weeks, is set to extend his contract with Le Havre, according to L'Équipe.
In a Ligue 1 landscape where almost every club, bar PSG and Brest, have changed head coach over the past two years, his stint already feels lengthy. He has overseen two seasons, each ending in top-flight survival.
The 39-year-old took time in recent weeks to assess the restructuring of the hierarchy and to gauge the owner's ambition. The arrival of Demba Ba, a long-time acquaintance whose work he saw at Dunkerque, and Blue Crow's intention to strengthen sporting structures were decisive factors.
After a review with the owner and president Jean-Michel Roussier, who has been closely involved in this rebuild, Digard allowed himself a few days before confirming his choice. The decision was reached at the end of last week.
After 95 matches as a professional head coach with Le Havre and Nice, he is poised to continue at his formative club. His ambition is to establish Le Havre firmly in the elite and develop the club.
