“Didn’t see it through”

Head coach Adi Hütter, Younes Ebnoutalib and Noah Atubolu give their assessment after the 3-3 draw at Union Berlin.

Head coach Adi Hütter: “From our perspective, I’m not entirely satisfied. We threw away a 3-1 lead, which annoys me but I’m not disappointed. We dropped further and further back in the second half. What does bother me is that we didn’t manage to break free and didn’t see it through. That said, for a long time it was a very decent performance. Union then almost suffocated us, the equaliser was deserved. We have young players who need time.”

Younes Ebnoutalib: “Three goals are always nice – it’s a shame it was only enough for a point in the end. Three points would’ve been nicer. Everyone battled. Union have a lot of big players, so it’s hard when they play long balls. I’m just happy and grateful to the team, I want to help. I always set myself targets and always want to deliver a good performance, but I never really thought I’d score three goals.”

Noah Atubolu: “It doesn’t feel good right now. We were 3-1 up in Berlin. It’s always nasty playing here against Union – the fans, the way they play football, with lots of long balls and aerial duels. We didn’t want to get sucked into that. We stood up to it well in the first half but we conceded the goals too easily – all three from set pieces, sometimes the ball was bouncing back and forth. We must and will work to make sure we don’t give away a lead like that in the future.”
