Grêmio are working to get starting full-backs Diego Caito and Marlon fit for the trip to Remo, but their returns are not yet assured. According to Globo.com, both have progressed during the FIFA break yet have not rejoined full training.
Caito has begun on-field transition with light physical work, and is recovering from a grade one collateral ligament injury in his knee. The firmest estimate for now is a return in the Gre-Nal on 11.
If he can secure minutes in Friday’s training match against the Sindicato dos Atletas do RS, his chances of joining the squad that travels to Belém on Monday would improve.
Marlon’s problem has been more severe, a grade two injury to the right rectus femoris. The report adds he has been working across three daily sessions to speed up recovery. His return remains uncertain and depends on progress in the coming days.
Should the pair miss out, options include João Pedro and Marcos Rocha at right-back, and Caio Paulista and Pedro Gabriel at left-back. Pedrinho is currently with Brazil under-20s for friendlies.
Two others who entered the break injured are available. Kannemann has recovered from muscular discomfort, and Dodi from a right knee patella avulsion. Both are training normally at CT Luiz Carvalho.
Renato Portaluppi has until Monday to assess availability. Grêmio visit Remo at the Mangueirão on Wednesday at 19:30, in round 29 of the Brasileirão.
