According to Coluna Do Fla, Dínamo de Moscou informed Flamengo that they had abandoned the signing of Gonzalo Plata, offered no explanation and have not provided the medical reports underpinning the decision.

The Russian club phoned José Boto to confirm the U-turn. No documentation has reached Rio, leaving Flamengo without access to any supporting paperwork.

Before travelling, Plata said his goodbyes at Ninho do Urubu. On arrival he was welcomed by club staff, then underwent tests that preceded the rejection.

Plata has been fit for elite football, playing regularly for Flamengo and Ecuador, and has no record of surgeries, fractures or chronic issues.

An agreement between the clubs had been set at 12 million euros, about R$ 72 million, and Plata was keen amid the prospect of a salary increase in Russia.

Dínamo de Moscou also withdrew from a move for Botafogo forward Matheus Martins, again without giving reasons, and Botafogo missed out on R$ 42 million from the proposed sale.

Neither Dínamo nor Plata have commented.
