According to Glorioso 1904, Diogo Viana, a friend of João Palhinha, says the 31-year-old has agreed personal terms with Aston Villa and Benfica and favours a move to either club.

The uncertainty around Palhinha’s future continues, and on the same day Bayern Munich sporting director Max Eberl said there is no agreement with Aston Villa.

Viana added that both clubs have maintained regular contact with the midfielder, who wants either Villa or a return to Benfica.

That stance places Benfica back in the frame, while a Premier League switch remains possible, with talks between Bayern and Villa yet to produce an agreement.

Viana also said Palhinha is prepared to reduce his salary to rejoin Benfica, a position he has communicated to the club’s hierarchy and to Marco Silva.

Any outcome now depends on club negotiations. Bayern are seeking a solution for a player not in Vincent Kompany’s plans.
