Diogo Viana signals Palhinha move to Benfica is close | OneFootball

Diogo Viana has signalled that Palhinha is closing in on a move to Benfica, with social posts pointing to a deal nearing completion.

According to Glorioso 1904, the former footballer and close friend, now a Sport TV pundit, shared an Instagram Story from their Braga days with Francisco Trincão and wrote that he was back.

Earlier, he also posted a photo from the studio captioned "here we go", a nod to the deal being wrapped up and hinting at an agreement.

The transfer is very close to being made official, with Benfica ready to pay €14 million, plus up to €5 million in bonuses, to secure the midfielder’s return to Portuguese football.

Aston Villa and Newcastle were offering richer terms, but family considerations were decisive. Palhinha, 31, will also receive a €1 million signing-on fee to offset a lower salary after his spell at Bayern Munich.
