Diomande, Munoz, Delap headline Nottingham Forest’s best XI after summer transfer window | OneFootball

With the window shut, Nottingham Forest’s likely strongest XI under Oliver Glasner features Ousmane Diomande, Daniel Munoz and Liam Delap. They are still chasing a first win after the 2-2 draw at Liverpool.

According to Nottingham Post, Forest considered a new No.1 before the 11pm deadline, with Crystal Palace’s Dean Henderson and Liverpool’s Giorgi Mamardashvili linked, but no deal materialised. Matz Sels therefore remains first-choice.

Diomande, a £34 million signing from Sporting Lisbon, is seen as a key piece beside Nikola Milenkovic and Murillo. It may take time to settle, yet that trio are expected to form the back line. Depth is in question after Morato and Zach Abbott left on loan, leaving Jair Cunha as the only other natural centre-back, with others able to cover if required.

Aina has competition at right wing-back from Munoz, who could usurp him given his familiarity with Glasner. Forest explored another midfielder to complement Xaver Schlager, but the need eased as James McAtee impressed in a deeper role in pre-season.

Ibrahim Sangare, once over the knock that kept him out at Liverpool, might still be the strongest partner for McAtee. Glasner also has Schlager, Yates and Nicolas Dominguez.

The two No.10 roles will be central. Morgan Gibbs-White holds one, and Glasner rates Dan Ndoye, who started the first two league games. Igor Jesus can play there and might do so once Delap is fully sharp, with the £45m signing surely first-choice up front and Jesus and Chris Wood in support.
