According to Le Progres, Djylian N’Guessan has joined Brest on loan with no option to buy, alongside a contract extension at Saint-Étienne, with an expected move to Liverpool in 2027.

The 18-year-old forward has been with Saint-Étienne since 2015. Handed his debut by Eirik Horneland at 16 in January 2025 against Reims, a 3-1 win, he struggled to nail down a Ligue 1 spot despite his team-first game.

He signed his first professional contract in November 2024. After relegation to Ligue 2 in summer 2025, and with two years left on that deal, he appeared to have a chance. He refused to extend unless the club met high demands from his camp, spending August away from the first-team as early talks failed.

Listed as injured for weeks, he was later cleared for the U20 World Cup. He endured a subdued tournament, missing a potential winner and a penalty in the final against Morocco.

Back at Saint-Étienne, he played 90 minutes in the Coupe de France at Quetigny, a 1-3 defeat, then made four brief cameos totalling under an hour for the rest of the season.
