Eagles kick-off their Conference League campaign with a trip to Poland

Crystal Palace begin their first-ever European adventure with a Conference League clash against Dynamo Kyiv this week.

The Eagles originally qualified for the Europa League thanks to their FA Cup final win last season but were demoted to the Europe’s third-tier club competition by UEFA after it was ruled that as of March 1, 2025, American businessman John Textor had control or influence at both Palace and French club Lyon.

After losing their appeal, Palace overcame Norwegian outfit Fredrikstad 1-0 on aggregate in the play-off round to seal a place in the league phase of this season’s Conference League.

Oliver Glasner’s side are in good form ahead of their European bow, beating Premier League champions Liverpool at the weekend to stretch their unbeaten run to 18 games across all competitions.

Meanwhile, Kyiv have had their struggles already in Europe this season. They lost in the Champions League qualifiers to Pafos before being beaten in the Europa League by Maccabi Tel Aviv to drop into the Conference League.

Date, kick-off time and venue

Dynamo Kyiv vs Crystal Palace is scheduled for a 5.45pm BST kick-off on Thursday, October 2, 2025.

The match will take place at the Motor Lublin Arena, Poland.

Dynamo Kyiv vs Crystal Palace team news

Kyiv will certainly be without Senegal international Samba Diallo as the 22-year-old has not been registered in the club’s Conference League squad.

That said, the winger has been out of favour so far this season, so his absence is not too much of a surprise.

Central defender Denys Popov is doubtful with a calf injury that has seen him miss the last six games in a row across all competitions.

As for Crystal Palace, summer signing Walter Benitez could be available for selection once again after missing the wins over West Ham and Liverpool with a dislocated finger.

Cheick Doucoure is a long-term injury absentee, though may be back in action next month. Meanwhile, Chadi Riad is still a couple of weeks away from a return to action.

Yeremy Pino and Ismaila Sarr both came through the Liverpool game unscathed and are therefore in contention to start in attack alongside Jean-Philippe Mateta.

Dynamo Kyiv vs Crystal Palace prediction

Both teams are in good form heading into this European tie and will want to make a flying start to their Conference League campaigns.

Kyiv have the edge when it comes to experience in European competitions, but Palace’s 18-game unbeaten run should not be taken lightly. Therefore, we think a share of the points is the most likely outcome.

Draw, 1-1.
