Crystal Palace marked their first-ever Europa League outing in style with a comfortable 4-0 win over Lech Poznań at Selhurst Park.

The Eagles should have trailed inside two minutes when Mikael Ishak scuffed wide from close range, but they were gifted the lead after 10 minutes. Terry Yegbe’s wayward throw-in fell straight to Yeremy Pino, who slotted home to end a 27-game goal drought and open Palace’s UEL account.

Chris Richards made it 2-0 on 27 minutes, powering in a header from Adam Wharton’s corner for his first European goal. Six minutes later Jørgen Strand Larsen converted a penalty after Radosław Murawski tripped Pino, scoring his fourth in three games.

Lech kept pressing after the break but rarely looked like staging a comeback. Ismaïla Sarr returned from injury as a late sub, while Eddie Nketiah dragged one chance wide before tucking home the fourth in the 89th minute. Murawski’s second yellow late on capped a miserable night for the visitors.

It was a third win in four for boss Pierre Sage and extended Palace’s strong European home record. Lech’s six-game unbeaten away run in Europe is over.
