In an in-depth interview given recently to the media following the announcement of his retirement, Eden Hazard spoke candidly about his new life away from the pitch. The former Belgian international says he has finally found peace after years spent under the pressure and demands of elite football.

On October 10, 2023, at the age of 32, Hazard made his retirement official, drawing the curtain on a 15-year career at the top level. Throughout his journey, he wore the colors of LOSC Lille, Chelsea, and Real Madrid, winning a total of 14 trophies.

In an interview with the British newspaper The Guardian, he stated: “Life goes by very quickly, especially in football. Yesterday I was 19, and today I’m 35. You have to enjoy your time in all aspects of life.”

The former Blues player continued: “Now I lead a simple life. I stay at home and enjoy the little things with my wife and children. When I was a player, I was always traveling. Today, I have time for my family, without any pressure.”

As a father of five, Hazard joked about his daily routine: "Right now, I’m more of a taxi driver than a footballer, but I’m fine with that."

He also reflected on his relationship with José Mourinho, recalling a memorable anecdote. The Portuguese coach dropped him from a match after he lost his passport, which prevented him from training.

"He told me it was my fault. He had great passion and total faith in his players. Training under him was a fantastic experience," Hazard explained.

Finally, speaking about the 2018 World Cup with Belgium, Hazard said he was proud of the third-place finish, which he considers one of the highlights of his international career.

In conclusion, the former Red Devils captain insists he is not looking to be regarded as a legend. He simply wants to be recognized as a player who had a respectable career, and now aspires to a peaceful life surrounded by his loved ones.
