Edin Dzeko signs for Schalke 04 until season’s end

Edin Dzeko, 39, has joined Schalke 04, leaders of Bundesliga 2, on a deal to the end of the season.

To complete the move, the Bosnian striker terminated his Fiorentina contract. Gazzetta suggests he would receive significant bonuses if Schalke are promoted.

Dzeko returned to Serie A with Fiorentina at the start of the campaign after two years and 46 goals at Fenerbahçe, but he has struggled, with zero league goals and only two in the Conference League.

He was Serie A’s top scorer in 2016-2017, scoring 29 for Roma.

Paris FC were thought to be interested, but he chose Schalke, a historic German club well placed for a return to the Bundesliga.
