Edu joins Levski Sofia board after Nottingham Forest exit | OneFootball

Edu has swiftly taken a new role, joining Bulgarian side Levski Sofia’s board soon after his Nottingham Forest contract was terminated earlier this month.

The 48-year-old is part of a five-person board. The club said in a statement that he will bring world-class knowledge, an international perspective and a strong global network.

Levski have also named Claudio Pracownik, Felipe Berliner and Matthew Cherry to the board, alongside executive director Daniel Borimirov. The changes were approved at the club’s general meeting of shareholders.

Edu was appointed global head of football in July 2025 to work across Evangelos Marinakis’ clubs, including Forest, Greek giants Olympiacos and Portuguese side Rio Ave. His Forest stint came under scrutiny during a turbulent 2025/26 campaign.

Soon after his arrival there was a falling-out with Nuno Espirito Santo, which led to the Portuguese’s dismissal as head coach last September. Talk of a possible departure then surfaced in January as Forest battled relegation, and the Reds later had Ange Postecoglou, Sean Dyche and Vitor Pereira in charge across the rest of the season.
