Nuno Espírito Santo says Tomas Soucek is making progress towards a return for West Ham but is not yet ready to resume full training.
The midfielder has started taking part in sections of first-team sessions while continuing to work separately on his fitness too.
“He’s getting better, improving, working in some parts of the session with the group already but also working with the fitness coach to show when he returns fully, he’s in the right place,” Nuno said.
“The priority for him is to be really well, and then we’ll see.”
Nuno also revealed goalkeeper Alphonse Areola is being assessed on a daily basis after suffering a dead leg in training.
“It was a knock during the session, a dead leg, he’s improving,” the West Ham boss said. “We’re assessing day by day.”
Taty Castellanos is another fitness concern after missing the win over Bolton.
“Taty is one of the players in that situation, among others,” Nuno added. “He felt some pain and inflammation in his tendon, but it is improving so we will see.”
