Bild reports that Eintracht Frankfurt are interested in investing in a new left-back who can compete with Philipp Max, who joined permanently from PSV Eindhoven.
The criteria for the left-back is that they must be young, so not only can they compete with Max and Christopher Lenz but also be their successor. Frankfurt’s two targets are AS Monaco’s Ismail Jakobs and Hannover 96’s Derrick Köhn.
Jakobs has been monitored by Frankfurt for six months but the 23-year-old is likely to be the more expensive option out of the two. Jakobs joined Monaco in 2021 from his hometown team 1.FC Köln for €6.5m but has struggled to cement a place in the starting lineup with most of his appearances coming off of the bench.
While Köhn will be cheaper than Jakobs and could cost around €6m. However, Köhn has a clause in his contract which means he can leave for €3m next summer. The 24-year-old has also attracted interest from Hoffenheim.
