Eintracht Frankfurt ‘losing patience’ with Elye Wahi

Eintracht Frankfurt’s €26m gamble on Elye Wahi could already be looking like a significant misfire. According to a report from Sky Germany, the Bundesliga side are growing frustrated with the French forward’s lack of progress and could even consider parting ways sooner than expected. The former Montpellier striker joined Frankfurt from Marseille last January, hoping to relaunch his career after a difficult six-month spell at the Vélodrome. At the time, Eintracht’s sporting director Markus Krösche hailed the arrival, likening the signing to the successful development of Hugo Ekitike, who was later sold for €90m to Liverpool.Yet, ten months on, Wahi’s trajectory is heading in the opposite direction. After going goalless in 11 appearances during his first half-season, the 22-year-old has shown only minor improvement this term — registering one goal and three assists in eight outings, just two of which have been starts.Sky Germany also report that Frankfurt are planning another move for Newcastle’s Danish forward William Osula in January. Should the club succeed in signing him, Wahi’s playing time could shrink even further.GFFN | George Boxall
