Ritsu Doan, Noah Fenyö and Oscar Højlund were all in action, with the latter operating in an unfamiliar role. Farès Chaibi and Can Uzun also enjoyed memorable evenings with their national sides.

Budapest, İzmit, Tizi Ouzou, Tokyo and Westerlo were the destinations for the five Eintracht Frankfurt players representing their respective countries on Tuesday. Read on to find out how the Eagles fared.

In Hungary, homegrown Eintracht defender Noah Fenyö once again played the full 90 minutes as Hungary U21s drew 1-1 with their Turkish counterparts. Fenyö and his team-mates sit fourth in European Under-21 Championship qualifying Group H after three matches, with Turkey leading the way at the top of the section.

Turkey’s senior side were also in action, with Can Uzun watching from the bench as they cruised to a 4-1 home win over Georgia. The Crescent Stars, who led 3-0 at half-time, sit second in World Cup qualifying Group E behind Spain, who have won all their four games so far.

Algeria had already secured their place at the World Cup next summer. The Desert Foxes rounded off their successful group campaign with a 2-1 win over Uganda, which came thanks to two late penalties from VfL Wolfsburg’s Mohamed Amoura. Farès Chaibi made his 22nd international appearance after coming off the bench for the final quarter of an hour, helping his team see out a come-from-behind victory in their final qualifier.

Ritsu Doan was not in competitive action but still made headlines with Japan in Tokyo. The Samurai Blue trailed record World Cup winners Brazil 2-0 at half-time but struck three times in 20 second-half minutes to claim a memorable 3-2 victory. Doan was withdrawn in the 85th minute after being named in the hosts’ starting XI.

Oscar Højlund was the only member of the Eagles quintet to end up on the losing side as Denmark U21s lost 2-0 to their Belgian counterparts. Højlund, who captained the team for the fourth time on only his fifth U21 appearance, was deployed in an unfamiliar role on the right of a back three – just as he had been against Austria U21s four days earlier.
