Eintracht Frankfurt have sacked head coach Dino Toppmöller with immediate effect after a run of one win in the last nine competitive matches.
According to BuLi News, the 45-year-old departs as U21 coach Dennis Schmitt and U19 coach Alexander Meier step in on an interim basis, with Schmitt leading.
Board member for sport Markus Krösche said Toppmöller fully identified with the club and worked passionately. He added that, after internal evaluation, the sporting management and executive board agreed a new impulse was needed due to declining development, and the team had not sufficiently matched their ambition to play dynamic, aggressive and compact football.
Toppmöller, appointed in 2023, said he would have liked to continue but accepted the decision. He said he approached the job with joy and pride in what had been achieved despite the current unsatisfactory situation.
He thanked the players, coaching and support staff, the board and all club employees, and wished Eintracht calmer and successful times. Schmitt and Meier will remain in charge until further notice.
