As reported by Bild, Eintracht Frankfurt are interested in highly rated Hertha Berlin forward Jessic Ngankam.
The 22-year-old is seen as a key player for Die Alte Dame as they enter the 2. Bundesliga after a disappointing campaign finishing bottom of Germany’s top flight. Nevertheless, what will play in Hertha’s favour is that Ngankam still has two years left on his Hertha contract meaning that a significant offer would have to come in if the capital club were to sell their star striker.
However, alongside Die Adler, Hertha’s city rivals Union Berlin have also expressed their interest in the forward. Nonetheless, with Ngankam currently on German under-21 duty, he will not make a decision on his future until after the upcoming European championships.
The Hertha striker has featured in 18 Bundesliga games this season where he has been able to score four goals and collect two assists. However, Ngankam did miss the majority of the Hinrunde after picking up consecutive injuries.
Despite Eintracht Frankfurt boasting three possible strikers for next season in Randal Kolo Muani, Rafael Borré, and Lucas Alario, all three of these could also imagine leaving the club this summer. This means that replacements will need to be found and if Kolo Muani does leave then the Eagles will easily be able to afford Ngankam’s price tag.
