El Hadrioui warns Marco Silva: Benfica talent on the bench | OneFootball

Almost three decades after Abdelkrim El Hadrioui arrived at Benfica, another Moroccan left-back is looking to make his mark wearing the eagle on his chest. Souffian El Karouani recently arrived at the Luz and now has the chance to write his own story at a club where his compatriot also had a memorable experience.

Now, El Hadrioui is following El Karouani's journey particularly closely, having arrived at Benfica on loan from Al-Qadsiah. The club from the Luz will also have the option to trigger a purchase clause set at 10 million euros at the end of the season.

"El Karouani, I wish you the greatest success. He will be successful, he has a lot of talent," said the former Moroccan full-back, in a message that spans almost 30 years of Benfica history. "My time at Benfica was marked by the unconditional love of the fans. In general, I was very well received and felt at ease among the Portuguese," he recalled to the newspaper 'A Bola'.

El Hadrioui, signed from FAR for 45,000 contos, around 420,000 euros today, represented Benfica for two seasons. Although he made only 29 appearances, scoring one goal and providing two assists, the former Moroccan international has fond memories of his spell at the Luz.

Upon learning of El Karouani's arrival, El Hadrioui did not hide his pride in his compatriot and left him a message: "I am proud of all the Moroccan players who have gone to big clubs, especially El Karouani, signed by Benfica. As you know, Benfica is a historic team that signs great players and offers them important opportunities. I am happy for him."
