Elche are in talks with Brighton over a loan for Facundo Buonanotte, according to Fabrizio Romano. The move is expected to be a straight loan with no option to buy and could be finalised in the coming hours.

Martín Anselmi's side are reinforcing their squad for a second successive season in the top flight. The Argentine coach has turned to the Premier League for profiles that fit his plan.

If completed, it would be the Argentine midfielder's fourth loan in three years. He spent 24/25 with Leicester City, then joined Chelsea last season before switching to Leeds United in the winter window after only eight competitive games. Chelsea paid 2.3 million euros for the 21-year-old's temporary stay.

Buonanotte is a dynamic midfielder who carries the ball into the final third, strikes from range and presses high to win possession. He can also drift wide to support without the ball.

His arrival would address a midfield vacancy following Aleix Febas's move to Celta de Vigo. It offers the player a chance to reassert himself after a modest Premier League season and gives Brighton another path to justify their 6 million euros outlay to Rosario Central in January 2023.
