According to information from DzFoot, it's now official: young Borussia Dortmund defender Elias Benkara has decided to pledge his international future to the Algerian national team. At just 18 years old, the Germany-born talent, who had been representing the German U17s, has made a bold choice in favor of the Fennecs, highlighting the growing appeal of Algeria's national team among dual-nationality prospects.

A new defensive asset for the future

The player, a towering 1.90m with the attributes of a modern right-sided central defender, already features on the extended squad list submitted to FIFA for November's friendlies. Unlike more complex cases such as Luca Zidane, Benkara did not have to change his sporting nationality, having only played friendly matches with Germany's youth teams.

Having progressed through every level at Borussia Dortmund, Benkara has stood out for his tactical maturity and technical composure. Last season, he made several appearances on the first-team bench, including in the Champions League against FC Barcelona.
