Work on Elland Road’s major redevelopment is advancing, set to lift capacity from 37,645 to 53,000. According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, construction began last month after the season ended.

Activity is concentrated around the West and North Stands, with the Banqueting Suite removed, the ticket office demolished and the old floodlights taken down.

The West Stand phase is expected to be completed in 2028, raising capacity from 8,000 to 17,750. The North Stand upgrade is set to take a further two years, increasing its maximum from 10,414 to 15,300, with overall completion expected in 2030.

A temporary structure behind the North Stand, expected to host corporate facilities during the works, is taking shape. The external structure outside the West Stand is being demolished.

Work is also under way inside the ground, and the pitch and dugouts will be ready for next season. The project is considered a landmark in the club’s history.

Club great Gary McAllister has welcomed the upgrade, arguing the long-serving ground needed a proper refresh.

Leeds United are next due to host RB Leipzig in a pre-season friendly on the weekend of August 8/9.
