Triple promotion winner Elliot Lee has left Wrexham with immediate effect after the midfielder agreed to mutually terminate his contract.
According to Wales Online, he became a club hero following the 2021 Hollywood takeover by Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac, playing a key role in the club’s rise.
Lee scored 15 and 16 goals in his first two seasons in north Wales, and was the club’s top scorer in 2024/25.
After promotion to the Championship he slipped down the pecking order, spending last season on loan at Doncaster Rovers.
Wrexham have been busy this summer, with a £6.5m deal for Sheffield United midfielder Callum O'Hare expected to be completed on deadline day.
Lee is believed to be attracting interest from Sheffield Wednesday and others. Now a free agent, he can move after Tuesday’s 11pm deadline.
Last week, manager Phil Parkinson said several clubs were interested and that Lee needed to decide his next step, stressing he was too good not to be playing and that the club wanted to find an option that suited him.
A former West Ham academy graduate, he joined from Luton Town in 2022 after helping their double promotion from League Two to the Championship, and dropped to the National League to join the project, a move his father Rob said reflected the club’s ambition and Reynolds’ appeal.
