Valencia have completed a marquee loan for Harvey Elliott, with no option to buy. According to AS, the 23-year-old outlined an ambition to help take the club back into European competition as he touched down at Mestalla.
At 23 he has close to 100 Premier League appearances, although the past two seasons brought limited minutes. A Fulham academy graduate, he moved to Liverpool in 2019 having already debuted in the top flight, becoming the youngest player at 16 years and 30 days.
Liverpool came too soon initially, so he spent a season on loan at Blackburn in the Championship, emerging as a key performer and convincing Jürgen Klopp to bring him into the first team. He started strongly and earned a place before a serious injury sidelined him for months.
He recovered and re-established himself at Liverpool, becoming an important option. Klopp’s departure and Slot’s arrival then checked his progress, prompting a move to Unai Emery’s Aston Villa, where minutes were scarce due to a clause that would have triggered an obligatory purchase after a set number of games.
This season he will play for Valencia. Comfortable across the attack but keen on the No 10 role, he offers ball retention and a decisive final pass. Corberán gains a missing link, though Elliott must settle into the system, and the No 10 shirt remains André Almeida’s unless the Portuguese departs today.
