Elye Wahi is poised to rejoin Nice after an agreement in principle with Frankfurt on Saturday, according to RMC. Nothing is signed, and a medical is scheduled for Monday.
The 23-year-old is set to come back on a paid loan with an option to buy worth more than €15m, a clause Nice had not initially sought.
The move has strong backing in the dressing room. The Ivory Coast international rejected Lazio and Hull this summer.
Wahi joined in January and was key to survival, scoring nine in 19. He hit two in the play-off second leg against Saint-Étienne, a 4-1 win on 29 May after a 0-0 first leg.
He has been temporarily sidelined from Frankfurt’s first-team group and did not travel for Friday’s cup tie at St Tonis, which his team won 11-0.
Completion hinges on the medical, then his match fitness will be assessed after limited recent involvement.
