Emi Marcondes has discussed the future of his former Norwich City teammate Mo Toure

Former Norwich City star Emi Marcondes has warned that Mo Toure will not last at the club for much longer as he is destined for bigger things.

The forward made the move to Carrow Road last January, signing from Danish side Randers, and he’s made a big impact in the months since.

The 22-year-old was a key part in Philippe Clement’s side rising up the Championship table to finish ninth, just eight points adrift of the play-offs.

He scored nine goals from 11 appearances in the league last season, while also providing three assists, and the striker has maintained that level of form into the new campaign.

Toure scored again at the weekend, making it four from six in the second division, as Clement’s side lost 4-3 to Middlesbrough.

The Australia international has a contract with the Norfolk outfit until June 2030.

Marcondes believes that Toure is destined for bigger things as he continues his strong form from last season into the current term.

He’s warned Norwich that the club will have a difficult time holding onto him for much longer, which comes after speculation over his future in the final weeks of the summer window.

“A very nice guy and so powerful as a player,” said Marcondes, via 10 Sport.

“He was having a great last season and is already now starting this season the same way with scoring and being very important for the team.

“I think it's a matter of time how long he's going to stay in Norwich for.”

It was reported in the final weeks of the transfer window that Hull City and Porto were among the clubs interested in a deal to sign Toure.

Turkish side Trabzonspor were also linked with the forward, but an agreement failed to materialise, and he ultimately stayed at Carrow Road.

This was a boost for Clement’s side, with the 22-year-old enjoying a promising start to the new campaign.

Goals against Burnley and Sheffield United helped the team to two victories, while he also found the back of the net in the dramatic, seven goal defeat to Boro at the weekend.

Norwich fans were split on the idea of selling Toure last summer, with some suggesting that a significant fee could be worth considering.

A figure of £15 million was suggested as an acceptable sum that Norwich should’ve been willing to take.

However, some fans believed that Toure needs another year in the Championship in order to become ready for the step up for the Premier League.

And while he has performed well for the Canaries, supporters were adamant that he was not ready to jump up to the top flight after just six months with Norwich.

But if Toure maintains this level of form, then the club could be receiving major offers as soon as the January window opens next year.

It was understandable to have some doubts about Toure during the summer, as he had only enjoyed a short spell of good form for Norwich.

Carrying his consistent goal scoring into this season shows that he was not a flash in the pan, and now fans would surely want the Canaries to do everything they can to keep him.

Toure could be crucial to the club fighting for promotion this season, but there’s no doubt he will attract interest in January if he can keep up this form.

Given he is also still only 22, it’s just a matter of time before he is competing in a top flight, whether it’s the Premier League or elsewhere.
