Spanish defender Mario Gila saluted Lazio fans after completing his transfer to AC Milan on Friday evening.

Mario Gila Completes €30m Transfer to AC Milan

The 25-year-old was destined to leave the Biancocelesti this summer, as his contract was set to expire next year, and agreeing a renewal with Claudio Lotito was highly unlikely. But while Napoli and Atalanta battled for his signature, Milan blew them out of the water with a larger offer for the player and Lazio.

The Italian capital side reportedly agreed to sell the centre-back to the Rossoneri for €30 million, while Real Madrid will receive a 50% sell-on fee on Lazio’s profit. For his part, Gila signed a five-year contract that will reportedly guarantee him a yearly net salary of €4-5 million.

Milan & Lazio Confirm Gila Move

On Friday, Milan announced the deal with an official statement posted on the club’s official website. Lazio further confirmed the transfer through an official note of their own.

SS Lazio can confirm that Mario Gila has completed a permanent transfer to AC Milan. Gila leaves the Club after making 120 appearances and scoring two goals. Shortly following the announcements, Lazio’s official YouTube channel uploaded a video containing a heartfelt message from Gila for the club and their supporters, who will always remain in his heart. The video ends with the defender struggling to hold back the tears as he closes a four-year chapter that elevated him from a young prospect to a top-notch defender.
