England captain Harry Kane hints at end of career change after NFL claim | OneFootball

Harry Kane has revealed that he could finish his football career in Major League Soccer (MLS) or become a specialist kicker in the National Football League (NFL).

The England captain is close to agreeing a new contract with Bayern Munich. However, he is already thinking about the latter stages of his career.

Kane, who is a serious candidate for the Ballon d’Or, has previously spoken about his love of golf and his dream of becoming a professional.

However, he now believes moving into American Football is more realistic.

“That is something I will try and look at a bit more seriously,” Kane said (via The Athletic).

“It all depends on what happens in my career over the next five or six years, the motivation and what I want to do. The NFL is a lot more realistic than the golf one, let’s put it that way.”

There have been no discussions about a possible move to the NFL yet, and Kane made it clear he would not consider it while he’s still playing at the highest level.

However, he also opened the door to an MLS move later on. He believes that the football and NFL calendars could allow him to play both sports at the same time.

He feels his penalty-taking experience could help him make the transition, although he understands that becoming an elite NFL kicker would require serious preparation.

“Maybe if I am in the MLS in the future or somewhere like that it might be a thing where you could connect the two, with the seasons,” he said.

“I take penalties, and it is a very similar pressure and technique. If I did that, in terms of training, I would be closer to that more than to any other sport.

“If I were to do it, it is something I would take seriously. I would take six months to a year to try and practice before.”
