England win over Costa Rica ‘exactly what we wanted’ says Tuchel | OneFootball

Thomas Tuchel says he is very encouraged by what he saw from his England side in their 3-0 friendly win over Costa Rica.

Goals from Declan Rice, Anthony Gordon and Ollie Watkins gave the Three Lions victory in their World Cup warm up match in Florida.

And Tuchel says he was pleased with the increase in intensity he saw from his players ahead of the start of the tournament.

“We did very well,” he said. “We deserved to win, should have scored more goals, created a lot.

“The attitude, intensity and energy was on a very high level.

“It was a very good team performance. We wanted to have this push to the next level and we clearly got it.

“Tonight just makes my mind very calm because we are absolutely in the right way and I’m very proud of what I saw today, the team spirit and the behaviour, the guys who came in were super influential, the guys from the bench were pushing, it’s exactly what we wanted.”
