Enzo Barrenechea undergoes successful left knee surgery | OneFootball

According to Glorioso 1904, Benfica’s Argentine midfielder Enzo Barrenechea has undergone successful arthroscopy on his left knee to repair a medial meniscus tear.

The procedure took place on Tuesday, 22 September, at Hospital da Luz, with the club’s medical department in attendance.

The estimated lay-off remains at six to eight weeks, with a possible return in the first two weeks of November, meaning he will miss some important fixtures.

Barrenechea had already sat out the clássico at Porto, which ended 3-1, leaving Marco Silva without his number five and close to three weeks to settle on a replacement from within the squad.

Before that match, Silva said the player’s status was still being assessed, that he would travel and further tests were planned, and that they could not yet be sure of his availability, while the rest of the squad were ready.
