Estudiantes confirm UNO as venue for Libertadores semi-final first leg vs Flamengo | OneFootball

Estudiantes have confirmed they will host Flamengo at the Estádio Jorge Luis Hirschi, known as UNO, in La Plata on 15 October, kick-off 21:30 Brasília time, the club said in a statement.

The decision ends days of uncertainty, with the Conmebol programme listing the venue as to be confirmed.

From the semi-finals, Conmebol requires stadiums of at least 30,000 capacity and a minimum of 4,000 away seats. UNO holds about 32,000, although its customary away section accommodates roughly 2,000, so the club had to negotiate with the confederation.

The note confirmed the ground but did not specify the allocation for Flamengo fans. The division of stands remains open.

Before the announcement, president Juan Sebastián Verón said the priority was to play at UNO, adding this would depend in part on Flamengo, and that another venue would be considered if needed.

The return leg is at the Maracanã on 22 October, also at 21:30 Brasília time. In the other semi-final, Fluminense face Palmeiras on 14 and 21 October.

Holders Flamengo beat Independiente del Valle in the last eight, winning in Ecuador then drawing 1-1 at the Maracanã. Estudiantes progressed by eliminating Corinthians in Brazil.

The clubs also met in this season’s group stage, Flamengo finishing first in Group A with Estudiantes second. The tie further recalls the 2025 quarter-finals, when Flamengo won 2-1 at the Maracanã, lost 1-0 at UNO, then advanced 4-2 on penalties, with goalkeeper Rossi saving two.
