Brighton and Hove Albion have released their squad numbers for the new season, with Evan Ferguson listed as No.28. According to TheArgus.co.uk, his inclusion comes amid growing expectation the striker will head out on loan.
The list also features players who may move on this summer. Ferguson’s omission from the programme squads for recent friendlies with Bologna and Roma had been widely noted.
The Republic of Ireland centre-forward is rehabbing after ankle surgery, which has put his progress on hold. He has been strongly linked with loan interest from Genoa, and reports suggest they would take him even if they must wait for his Serie A return.
He attended the recent friendly against Roma at the Amex, looking lean as he chatted with their conditioning staff. He spent last summer and half the season on loan with the Italian club.
Albion have added Promise David to bolster their attack, a genuine No.9 in some ways similar to Ferguson. David is on loan for the season with an obligation for a full transfer if certain conditions are met, and at this early stage there appears every chance it will become permanent in a £22 million deal. Squad numbers elsewhere are broadly in line with pre-season.
