Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis is suing Crystal Palace over a banner fans displayed last season.

The incident relates to the 1-1 draw between Palace and Forest at Selhurst Park back in August which came after a fraught summer between the two teams over who would secure a Europa League place with the Eagles eventually competing in the Conference League.

The banner included a cartoon of Marinakis with a gun held to player Morgan Gibbs-White with the words: "Mr Marinakis is not involved in blackmail, match-fixing, drug trafficking or corruption."

Palace were already fined £50,000 by the Football Association over the incident back in February after initially denying a charge of failing to ensure its supporters behaved appropriately.

The two teams will meet again at Selhurst Park in October with new Forest manager Oliver Glasner facing his former team in an added layer to the on-going rivalry between the two clubs.
