Everton and Crystal Palace have finalised a swap deal, with Brennan Johnson moving to Hill Dickinson Stadium and Dwight McNeil joining Palace. According to NY Times, both players have agreed four-year contracts, Johnson’s runs until 2030.

Johnson, 25, only arrived at Palace in January from Tottenham Hotspur for a then club-record £35 million. Spurs’ top scorer in 2024-25 with 18 goals, he failed to score in 26 appearances for Palace across all competitions.

He cited the manager, the squad and the club’s direction as key reasons for the move, and said he wants to show his best again. David Moyes has urged him to rediscover previous form, and he believes he can bring work rate, speed and goals, while praising Everton’s fanbase.

Johnson becomes Everton’s third new arrival of the summer after Hayden Hackney and Christian Norgaard. Tyrique George and Merlin Rohl have also joined permanently following loan spells last season.

McNeil, 26, said he is delighted to join Palace and is ready for the challenge. He pointed to recent success, referencing an FA Cup win, last season’s Conference League triumph and Europa League football this season, which he wants to be part of.

A move for McNeil to Palace collapsed on deadline day earlier this year after an initial loan with an obligation to buy for £20 million was agreed, with paperwork not completed in time. He made 26 appearances for Everton last season, starting 14 Premier League matches, and did not score.
