Everton And Ipswich Town ‘Also In The Running’ For Free Agent Wing-back | OneFootball

Everton and Ipswich Town are both showing keen interest in landing Senegal international wing-back Krepin Diatta.

The 27-year-old is a free agent following the conclusion of his contract at Ligue 1 side Monaco and has been pondering his next move.

Given his availability without a fee, Diatta is drawing interest from a host of sides who smell a possible bargain.

Diatta has options in England, Germany and, if he wants, to continue his stay in Ligue 1.

The wing-back ‘doesn’t want to rush into a decision’, according to French outlet Foot Mercato, and is keen to make sure the project is right for him at his next club before committing.

Marseille are interested in Diatta, along with German side Schalke, while Everton and Ipswich ‘are also in the running’ to land him.

Diatta is, it is claimed, ‘determined not to make the wrong choice’, which helps to explain why the wait for his next club has dragged on into August.

The Senegalese kicked off his career at Norwegian outfit Sarpsborg, where his performances put him on the radar of Club Brugge, who took him to Belgium in 2018.

Diatta then headed for Ligue 1 with Monaco three years later and featured on a regular basis at the Stade Louis II before his contract expired at the end of June.

The wing-back had been busy with the World Cup, where he featured for Senegal, but is now free to put his full focus on his next club hunt.

Interest from England is not new for Diatta, with Watford looking at him in 2020, while Burnley then explored a swoop in 2023.

Crystal Palace were mooted as keen earlier this summer and, given the lack of movement at Selhurst Park, may want to return to the charge in the coming weeks.

Everton may represent an attractive option for Diatta given their status as an established Premier League club and push for a spot in Europe last term.

At Ipswich, Diatta could well fear a relegation battle and may factor that into his thinking, though Tractor Boys boss Gary O’Neil will have seen him up close when Strasbourg boss.
